CSCN Travel Awards, Due Feb 15 2016

CIHR-Funded Community Development Program: Mobilizing the Healthcare Community Towards an Integrated Approach to Improving Outcomes of Patients with Sleep Disorders – Canadian Sleep and Circadian Network (CSCN)

The objective of the CSCN Travel Awards is to recognize an outstanding Canadian research contribution made by students and postdoctoral fellows in the field of sleep/rhythms research. Note that only trainees are eligible to apply to this competition. The maximum amount for a single award is $1000.

The CSCN will provide funding to students and postdoctoral fellows working in sleep research in Canada to travel to the 2016 Gordon Research Conference – Sleep Regulation and Function (https://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?id=16792) to present their research, which must be determined to be relevant to the general CSCN mandate.

Application Process:

  • A 1-page (maximum) letter outlining how this award will foster your career goals is required.
  • A supporting letter from your supervisor that confirms you are a full-time student or postdoctoral fellow at a recognized Canadian academic institution.
  • A copy of your submitted abstract. Note: You MUST be presenting an abstract or oral presentation in order to be eligible for an award.

In addition:

  • Awards are competitive and given based on scientific merit and need. Applications will be peer-reviewed using standard CIHR criteria.
  • Confirmation of acceptance regarding your submitted abstract will be required before releasing funds to successful applicants.
  • The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $1000 per applicant. There are 5 available travel awards for this funding period.
  • Successful applicants will notified of award decisions by March 1 2016.
